Pirate Training

Bobbi and Roger invited us to spend the day with them at Foster's Lake near Sweet Home. They've got a boat and some towable items, which sounded like loads of fun. We ran into a snag right off the bad as the battery for the boat was dead, which luckily Roger noticed before we got going. I suggested plugging an inverter which he had into his car and his battery charger into that and charging for the half-hour we drove to the lake, which turned out not to work at all.

Once he backed the truck up we pulled the boat out to the other side of the dock, and he yanked the battery out. Then he ran up and pulled the one out of his truck and stuck it in the boat. Voila! Power to spare.

So we cruised out to the middle of the lake and launched the tow-thingy, which was almost as big as the boat. Here's me and Zach getting ready to go for a ride.

It got a lot more fun with no kids, since we got to go faster than like 10 miles an hour. I also tried the tube they had, which was hard. Despite the fact that it's tied to the boat, you need to do a lot of arm work to keep yourself on top of it. It's Monday night now and my arms are KILLING me. I feel like I did a huge upper body workout yesterday, which I guess I did. Maybe if I was in better shape it wouldn't have been such a chore. That's probably why I enjoyed the boat-thingy more, since it didn't involve so much work.

Ian didn't want to have anything to do with the tow devices. At the end of the day we finally got him to step into it, but that was it. He did pretty well just hanging out on the boat, though. He'll make a good pirate yet.
