Backyard Ho!

We went ahead and chopped down the rest of the trees in our backyard. There were only about six left, and half of them were dead. Once those were gone the other ones would have been kinda pointless. Also, I'm still paranoid that another one is gonna fall over and crush even more of my neighbor's house.

So I decided to save $200 and have them leave the wood instead of hauling it away. I thought that I could probably sell it and make a little back. Of course I've forgotten the hell of toting all that other wood around the backyard.

Some of these rounds were 14" to 18" around and had to be pushing 100 lbs. I tried to move a couple in a cart and even that was too hard to pull up the damn hill. So I broke down and finally decided to see if the 4Runner would drive into the backyard.

Lucky for me it had no problem at all. The only thing I was worrying about was getting pitch all over the back of the rig. So I stuck a tarp back there and got in about 12 of the rounds before making the trip back to the front of the house.

I got all of the ones in the furthest part of the yard before I started digging furrows in the mulch covering the clay on the steepest part. Then I gave up and started toting them by hand.

That $200 is starting to look pretty cheap about now.
