The Big Bus

Lately Ian has been pointing out buses while driving around in the car and mentioning his desire to ride on them. So I decided we'd take a little trip. Eugene has just rolled out a new bus line called EmX. It's sort of combination of bus and light rail. Currently there's one route that makes a loop from the main bus depot in Eugene to the depot in Springfield. The EmX buses have their own dedicated lanes in places which is nifty because sometimes you get to drive the wrong way down one way streets. They even have their own stoplights and get some sort of queue-jumping priority that keeps them on time.

Anyway, they're also free. (I'm not sure how long that will last.) So Ian and I parked in the library lot and walked across the street to the bus depot and jumped onboard. We took the round trip to Springfield and back which took about half an hour. Ian thought it was pretty nifty. I thought the bus smelled a little funky for being brand new.
